With 2.7 trillion dollars in assets under management, Fidelity has taken an important step towards technology by applying for three patents to serve in the metaverse as part of its latest expansion into the cryptocurrency market. According to the application records, the company aims to offer its traditional financial services in different virtual realities as well.
Trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis reported on his personal Twitter account that Fidelity filed a patent on December 21, 2022, covering among other things, NFTs, NFT marketplaces, Metaverse investment opportunities, digital real estate investing and cryptocurrency trading.
Fidelity has adopted cryptocurrencies faster than most other major financial firms, and in October announced plans to hire 100 crypto experts to bring the total size of its crypto team to 500. Despite the long-standing and strong bear market, the company continues to expand its presence in this space.
