In a world where traditional financial giants such as Visa, Mastercard and PayPal employ tens of thousands of employees, the largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin (BTC) continues to be managed by a tight team of just a few dozen active developers. In a report published recently, this reality speaks clearly.
The New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG), a Bitcoin-focused investment firm, released a report in September describing the 14-year development of the largest cryptocurrency from a software development perspective.
The report titled “Bitcoin Developers” reveals that there are only 40 to 60 active developers working on the Bitcoin network. The report sheds light on how Bitcoin has steadily moved from an obscure technological breakthrough to worldwide dominance, and looks at the software developers with the biggest money in making it all happen.
