On the future presidential elections in Russia, on March 18, the observers from the “National Social Monitoring” (NSM) will confirm the voting course with the help of blockchain platform Verifier.

The information was reported by the Russian mass media, with reference to the experts who had had a roundtable meeting on introducing digital innovations to the election process.

NSM observers will carry out a parallel count of voices and will broadcast the turnout of voters during specific periods of time. The data of parallel counting that will be received by the NSM system from the places of observation will be confirmed with the help of NSM blockchain technology and international standard of trustworthiness of the blockchain platform Verifier.

The federal coordinator of NSM, the coordinator of the civil movement “Group 32” Roman Kolomoicev has mentioned that the central part of observers is youth. He explains:

It [youth] understands informational technologies; they are comfortable with using modern means of election control. We’ve built an IT platform on the principles of blockchain – from one side, it assures trust, which is essential for young observers who take part in the elections for the first time; from the other hand – it helps to record all activities of observers in the election day and confirm their work.

As for the blockchain platform’s work, Elena Babchenkova, one of the NSM coordinators, says that due to the blockchain and the fact that all protocols from voting stations are recorded in the nom24.ru database, the substitution of information is impossible since one can check and compare data anytime.

In the Verifier network (Russian solution on blockchain technology), data and images of protocols will be saved and duplicated for confirmation.

Serhei Volodenkov, the head of the program “Political Management and Public Relations” mentioned that “NSM blockchain is the first point of connection, public initiative. I’m sure that we won’t need CEC in the future. If there are several such blockchain platforms, they will verify the whole election process, and falsifications will be impossible.”

According to the words of the head of the technological project Verifier Dmitrii Rzhavin, users (verifiers) of the blockchain platform register in the system under their passport IDs, so it’s impossible to create fake users.

Recently, we have written that the president of the RF supported the introduction of distributed ledger technology to the banking systems and mentioned that it was critical not to lose time when the humanity would make a step into the new epoch.
